Punk'd Out

One of the most well-known and biggest events for athletes, actors, musical artist and designers everywhere; the Met Gala. This event celebrates the annual opening of the fashion exhibit held in the Metropolitan Museum. Each year there's a theme and this year they chose punk, "Punk: Chaos to Couture." Punk started in the mid 70's and was an era for rebellion. So let's see which celebrities rebelled that night.
I was excited to see how risky the outfits were going to be. Unfortunately, most weren't but I was happy with how many stuck with the theme; even if it was toned down. After all it wasn't street punk, it was couture punk.
It was hard for me to pick my favorites out of my loooong list of likes, but I think I did pretty good. I think the seven I chose did punk the best but were still very chic. They're in no particular order

 FEMALE LIKES

Miley Cyrus in Marc Jacobs and Eddie Borgo Jewelry
Minka Kelly in Carolina Herrera
Rooney Mara in Givenchy Haute Couture
Kerry Washington in Vera Wang and Fred Leighton Jewelry with a Roger Vivier Clutch
Kristen Stewart in Stella McCartney
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Gucci

Madonna in Givenchy Haute Couture and Casadei Shoes

Next, is dislikes. My dislike list was surprisingly short, but I'm only going to talk about two. The two women below really disappointed me-- especially Beyonce *eyes water*. I really thought the dress was a nice choice until I noticed the matching boots and that terrible belt. Yes, the concept of punk was in her outfit head to toe but, could have been executed so much better. COME ON BEY! Kim Kardashian... all I'm going to say is that she probably should have stuck to a solid color.
Now let us have a moment of silence.

DISLIKES
Beyonce in Givenchy Haute Couture
Kim Kardashian in Riccardo Tisci

Phew! Thank God thats over. Its time to see which men did it the best, what do you say ladies?
I didn't expect much from the men because its usually the white and black tuxedo. To my surprise, a couple men caught my eye. They were debonair all while sticking to the theme of the night.
Here were my favorite men.

MALE LIKES

Andrew Bevan in Masquino

Pharrell Williams in Lanvin
Amare Stoudemire in Calvin Klein
Psy (No Info on ensemble)
Of course there's always those outfits you see and think to yourself, "I don't hate it, but I don't like it either." I definitely had a few of those. Though I couldn't quite decide whether to put these people on my like or dislike list. The attire chosen was unquestionably appropriate for the occasion.

?

Andre Leon Talley in a Tom Ford Cloak
Sarah Jessica Parker in Philip Treacy (headpiece), Giles Deacon (dress) Christian Louboutin (shoes)

That concludes the Met Gala Red Carpet reviews. Hope you all enjoyed, leave a comment and let me know who your favorites and not so favorites were.

Until next time,
MSTATEN
